As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the Department of Energy (DOE) was allocated $400 million to create the Transportation Electrification Initiative. The Initiative provides $360 million for vehicle and infrastructure development, with the goal of deploying 13,000 EVs and 22,000 charging stations by December 2013.
